At Wild Earth we don’t ever want to restrict our agents or tell them how to get their sales; however when it comes time to grow it helps to expand your sales channels.
What this basically means is creating new ways for customers to purchase from your business. In this post we will discuss some ideas of new sales channels you can explore to get Wild Earth out to new potential customers and help you grow your businesses as a result.
Whatsapp is the most common channel to sell as it is our main sales channel as well; we have a whole blog post on Whatsapp business so check that out for more info on this topic. The main idea here is to create groups (either broadcast groups or actual Whatsapp groups) where you group together people who have shown interest in purchasing from you. You can then send styles and marketing material to these groups and use them as a way to advertise and get sales. Use these groups as more than simply a one directional sales channel and try to grow your brand and relationships through them as well.
Whatsapp groups work well because customers can place orders without you needing to actually have the stock ready which means you can then send the orders to us to see if we have stock and you ideally never get left with unwanted stock. However a great option is also selling at markets around your area. In person selling is a great way to get more potential customers while also encouraging impulse purchases and interacting in person to build your brands. People more likely than not attend markets with the intention of spending money; this means you are meeting people at the right time to make a purchase. The downside here is you need stock to take with but consider starting out with some left over items and building from there. Pay careful attention to the type of markets as the type of people that attend will be a critical determinant.
A further option is selling through other social channels such as selling through Instagram. Instagram stores are becoming more and more popular where a customer can find an item they may like in your feed and then direct message you to make a purchase. It is a nice way to go straight from content to conversion. If done correctly an Instagram page can act as a beautiful coherent store that strongly portrays your brand. Make sure to use highlights, reels and posts to create a strong brand as well as to educate customers on how to transact with you through the platform. The best part is Instagram, as with most social media platforms, is completely free.
A more costly channel one can look into when you want to take it further is to build your own online store or website. An online store is a great place to sell your products as it connects you to the global market. Anyone with access to the internet now becomes a potential customer. Sites like Wix or Shopify are a great place to build beautiful sites that are also highly functional. Pay careful attention to the price of these sites and the features they offer as well as the needs of your business. Remember just having an online store won’t guarantee any sales you still need to get people on your site and then seal the deal once they are there. The marketing costs involved in this can also be quite high so don’t jump into building an online store until you are prepared. With that being said if done right an online store can be a great way to really take your business to the next level regardless of your geographical location.
While all of these channels look outwards to getting new customers do not shy away from looking within your own circles. Friends, family and colleagues are great options for potential customers; obviously within reason but if you are looking for somewhere to start these people are often times more keen to support and if they love the clothes and wear them then they can help spread the word about your business as well. So consider starting by asking some people at work if they would be interested in purchasing Wild Earth from you; don’t be pushy and maybe offer them a special discount to get the ball rolling and get your name out there.
These are just a few unique ideas to get your own businesses out there, consider a combination of all these options and be sure to add in marketing material at all touchpoints so as to best capitalize on the channels of your choice. For example when attending a market be sure to have pamphlets or business cards so that you can connect with customers after a purchase or even if they didn’t purchase to try and secure a conversion after the event.
